1. What Are Cookies?
Cookies are small text files a website stores in your browser. Similar technologies, such as the browser's local storage or reading technical details of your browser, work in a comparable way and are covered by this policy too.
2. Your Choice
When you first visit, a banner asks which optional cookies you accept. Analytics and marketing cookies are only set if you accept them. You can change your choice at any time with the Cookie settings link at the bottom of every page. Your choice is remembered for 1 year, after which we ask again.
Strictly necessary cookies do not need consent: without them the site, your login or voting cannot work.

4. Vote Security Checks
When you cast a vote, the vote page reads technical details of your browser and device — such as browser and device characteristics — and turns them into an identifier. Together with the l2tz_vid cookie, this lets us recognise bots and vote farms. These checks run only when you vote, are strictly necessary to provide an honest vote, and are not used for advertising. How long the results are kept is explained in the Privacy Policy (section 9).
5. Local Storage
We store your light or dark theme in your browser's local storage (darkMode). If you turn on browser notifications, your browser keeps a push subscription for our site; you can remove it in your browser or account settings.
6. Controlling Cookies in Your Browser
You can also block or delete cookies in your browser settings:
- Chrome: Settings → Privacy and security → Cookies and other site data
- Firefox: Settings → Privacy & Security → Cookies and Site Data
- Safari: Settings → Privacy → Manage Website Data
- Edge: Settings → Cookies and site permissions
If you block strictly necessary cookies, you will not be able to sign in or vote.

We update this policy when the cookies we use change, and ask for your consent again when a new optional cookie is added.
